Once a year Alan Keef throw open their doors to the public. Not knowing what to expect we we pleasantly surprised by the whole event. Alan Keef are a family run business and all the family were there making everyone feel very welcome. Public were allowed access to the whole of the site and there was plenty to see and do for the whole family. Food was to be recommended. |
| Around the workshop and surrounding grounds were a large collection od secondhand and on going projects. You only need to read the railway press to see many projects under construction inlcuding - Perrygroves new engine, Longleats new diesel, Post Office Railway car being re gauged are just some to name amonst many others. | ![]() |

The short demonstration line ran
around the workshops and finished to to the rear. In
contract to the industrial looking front of the site, the
formal gardens to the rear were a real contrast. I wouldn't recommend taking sandwiches as you would miss out on there lovely catering but I would recommend to have you lunch in their gardens as the view is stunning. |
| Don't expect to be entertained for the full day but do set a morning or afternoon aside. Combined with a trip to Perygrove Railway (who run a special service on the day) you have a great railway day to look forward to. | |
