Started in May 1999 our railway has changed just a little.

Left - Cutting of the first sod. First weekend in May 99. Right -Sept 02 believe it or not the path in the left of the left picture is the one running up the centre in the right picture.

Above - two pictures just over three years apart. The red circle highlighting about the only object that hasn't been moved.

The retaining wall in the right picture was built along roughly where the original line went. Having cleared the undergrowth we discovered an extra couple of feet of usable space. The retaining wall was built with a view of creating an area to put the soil, excavated from the shed, against. The need for a wall on the left soon led to the idea of a masonry tunnel. We never dreamed we would create such a heap

Behind this is a railway - honest

Being a building manager, I would be more than happy to do a page or two on basic building - masonry walls, concrete slabs etc - if anyone is interested?
