Coach Kit

Contents
  • 2 no. coach sides
  • 2 no. roof sheets
  • 2 no. coach ends
  • 1 no. centre compartment (with cut out through top)
  • 1 no. centre roof strut
You will also need small nails/veneer pins, 1½ x 8 screws and water proof wood glue – not included in kit
1. Place centre compartment at end of coach side and mark out side support strut positions.
Cut out corners of centre compartment, as marked, so it will fit in the centre of the coach.

2. Cut out slot at top of centre compartment so that centre roof strut fits snugly in.
Enlarge the notch on coach ends with a chisel so that centre roof strut fits snugly in.

3. Drill through the end panel of the coach and counter sink so that the screws will screw into the timber battens. Pilot hole the battens to avoid splitting. If the end is not flush the sides, loosen the screws off and pack out with thin timber packers (use plenty of wood glue)
Glue coach ends and centre compartment to coach sides and nail from external face of coach side and ends.

4. Put glue on framework and top of end panels then bend smaller roof sheet in place centrally on framework. Pin at approx. 4” centres along the centre before pinning the edges (working centre out)
Spread glue evenly on coach roof and place larger roof sheet centrally on top and nail at approx. 4” centres through smaller sheet into framework.
Sand or plane edges of two roof sheets.
Fill & sand where nailed
For best finish, paint with primer undercoat sand, seal exposed MDF with more primer, re-sand and then top coat to suit.
