Simon Pavitt's Polly

I have been looking at second hand steam locos for some time but eventually decided to build my own. I settled on the Polly range due to having driven one at our club and found them very powerful for their size and recommendation from Paul. They are also in my opinion more properly engineered than some of the kits that are available out there.
A big driver in this decision was the fact that machined spares are available "off the shelf" should any part fail. You can even buy a full set of boiler blanks ready machined.   Due to tight bends on ground level track I decided on a Polly II 0-4-0 kit.
I went up to Andy's workshop in Long Eaton and collected my first two kits on 22nd July. He was very friendly and helpful and answered all my questions regarding construction and gave me a tour of his workshop. About two weeks later I was desperate for the next two kits !
Construction so far has been pretty straightforward although its worth spending some time studying the drawings. I'm thoroughly enjoying constructing the loco myself and incorporating many of the extra options available into it.   Kits 3 and 4 are due anytime now so will keep you all posted on how I get on.............
