Trojan- Electrics

To protect the board we would recommend that you purchase the cover when buying the board. The mount in the dash has locating holes for this cover. The CLB-606 is the fly lead from the board which terminates in a socket for the hand held controller.

4QD Control Board

So why 4qd? Truthfully I have not come across Parkside controllers to be able to comment on. But in 4qd's favour-

  • Very technical and informative website - with online ordering
  • Fix fee repair charge should you damage the board
  • Good range of extras
  • Good back up

4qd order code -

  • PRO-120-24 (Pro 120 24)
  • PRO-COV (Pro/Sco cover)
  • CLB-606 (Control Lead NCC)

Hand Held Controller

Don't waste time buy it ready plumbed in. We would recommend though, that a deadmans switch should be fitted, especially if you are letting children drive. The controller on the left in addition to the deadmans switch has also had a key switch fitted which disables the deadmans button. Click here - for wiring diagram

4qd order code -

  • HCB-600 (Hand control box (Bulgin))

Switches available from Maplin

Battery Condition Meter

While not the most accurate in the world they do add a splash of colour and interest to the cab. This meter measures the voltage so the only change will be right at the end just before the batteries go flat. Really useful in checking that you do have power.

4qd order code -

  • BCM-524 (BCM 5 LED)

Switch available from Maplin

Battery Isolator Switch

While not totally neccessary it does have some benefits -

  • No need to un-bolt battery terminals before charging
  • Immobilises the engine when key is removed - ideal if there are inquisitive youngster around
  • Provides instant emergency cut off

Available from Ride on Railways

How it all fits together

Left - shows the fly lead and the cover to the control board. The two red bits are plastic unions which we use to protect the motor wires from chafing on the steel deck.
Right - Close up of the of the battery isolator switch. Although in this picture the main battery wires are 10mm˛. Normally 6mm˛ wire is OK. This one was up graded in case we decide to push it to its limit.
