Below are a few notes which will
help you achieve many years of trouble free running.
Notes
- Do not oil bearings. These
are sealed units and any oil will attract dirt which may
cause damage.
- Before and after running
clean and oil the centre area of the side frames where
the cross support makes contact, including the springs.
If you have purchased the spacer block and mounting plate
occasionally grease the upper face of the spacer block.
- If for any reason you
disassemble the bogie please make sure the parts go back
together in exactly the same location.
Trouble Shooting
- Should you derail, check
wheels for damage before re-railing. Any nicks on the
flanges should be removed to avoid damage to track.
- The wheels are fixed to the
axles using a retaining compound. If you find a bogie is
regularly derailing, check to make sure all the wheels
are still fixed to the axles. If one has come loose
simply re-fix by applying a suitable retaining compound
such as Loctite 601.
- The bogie may need running in.
If the cross bar locks in the down position it may be
necessary to loosen the two retaining bolts temporarily.
If you have excessively rough track you may find the
bogie performs better with these bolts locked off
slightly loose.
