Open Days 28th & 29th June 2003

Ride On Railways

I have taken numerous pictures over the years of most engines so I tend now not to take so many photographs and spend more time driving trains.

John Oxlades party RoR open day

SALFORDS LIGHT RAILWAY

John worked very hard to get his railway ready for his birthday party and congratulations to John on a great little railway.

Johns engine and eight tippers. I have been told off for not including his PNP tipper which is just out of shot on the right.

Video 3.3mb- taken a bit late in the evening on my new camcorder. Shows a full circuit on johns line.

John Hunslet "Peter". A superb quality model. It is not fitted with an axle pump but relies on two injectors. These injectors have to be feed from external water tanks as the saddle tank picks up the heat from the boiler
Andrena (my wife) driving our Trojan with a saddle tank body.

RIDE ON RAILWAYS

Before the open day we carried out a slight modification to the track layout. Having a crossover in the station never looked right. We have now moved it to just infront of the shed where they are helpful in putting the trains away.

The "Y" point was locked with a G clamp to avoid accidental changing of the point.

John Oxlade with just four tippers and his four wheel wagon. We are looking into the possibility of a rideable tipper so you don't have to have a driving truck between the engine and tippers.
Thomas makes a return. The Y6 chassis with its two turned batteries just fit under the body. Fitting speed govenors allow younger visitors the joy of driving safely.
Our first Trojan shunter. This has just had a new front end welded on as the MDF got a bit wet over the winter. Will re apply wasp stripes when I get the time.

Thanks to all those who came,

Paul, Andrena, David and Gwen.
