Please use the
following as a guide to maintaining and running your engine
Before
running and during long running sessions
Oil moving
parts using a good quality oil - Brass motor mount
bushes, axle boxes, gears and brass bushes on the
coupling rods.
Inspect
Electrical System
Inspect wire for damage due to heat and / or abrasions.
Battery terminals are tight.
If you are
carrying large loads please check, motors, control board
and wires for signs of excessive heat. If you find any
parts are running excessively hot reduce load and allow
to cool before using again
Regularly
- Before 1st run and at around 5 outings or less i.e. running
in dirty conditions
Inspect the gears to
check for the following-
Dirt and grit
on the gears will increase wear on both metal and nylon
gears. If there is excessive dirt build upclean using a
tooth brush, white spirits and a cloth to clean each
groove. Once clean take the opportunity to check for
damaged teeth or object embedded in the gear.
Turn the
wheels and check to see if there is any slack between the
nylon and metal gears. If there is slacken the motors
bolts on the offending motor and move it to reduce the
slack. If a motor slips out of alignment or excessive
play allowed between the gears the motor may end up
stripping the teeth off of the nylon gear.
Regularly
-Before 1st run and after around 10 Outings +
Check all
bolts, nuts (including motors), electrical terminals,
crank set grub screws etc for tightness.
STOP and
INVESTIGATE
IF -
You smell
electrical burning or see smoke - isolate power before
you investigate.
Change of
noise or hear strange noises coming from the engine
Performance
changes dramatically
See liquid
coming from the batteries - see warning notes
