SPECIFICATION
While
driving such a large loco on eight small 150w motors has proved
successful
we have been asked many times if we could produce a more commercial
drive system. The use of heavy duty commercial motors and gear boxes
has produced a more robust drive system which is more appealing to
commercial operators.

In
service the delrin gear system has stood up really well but the steel
spur gears do eventually require replacement. They are also exposed and
vulnerable to damage from external materials - such a a teddy bear. The
new system with its sealed gearbox and transmission belt provides for a
more robust and durable service.
This loco is ideal for around 12 passengers (2-3 coaches) on medium to
heavy duty run.
The direct drive means virtually no slack in the drive system so the
response between acceleration and braking is nearly instantaneous.
Belt drive to trailing axles means there is no maintenance
required
to the drive system.

These locomotives are made
to order and will normally take 6- 8 weeks on top of any current lead
time.
